We Can (Friday Flash #62)

I wasn't sure what to do with F. Leonora's "Modern-day Mona Lisa" prompt, but then this idea came to me. Admittedly, it's a bit of an experiment that I'm not sure works. But that's the great thing about Friday Flash: you can try things you might not have otherwise. The random rhyming was an effort to make it more than just a list and give it a little rhythm and flow—it's not really meant to be a poem. Although it probably doesn't count as a complete story, I'm sure there is one if you read between the lines.

Hope you enjoy,

We Can

We can make all our wildest dreams come true. I never knew what those were until I met you.

We can both forgive until we get it right. I'm not an angel; I've fallen from grace, but in my head all I see is your face.

We can revel in this giant, crazy love and start again. Learning as we go, the time and miles weren't wasted trails.

We can explore hidden paths few lovers ever discover or boldly travel. Many won't understand our desires, but they don't need to see. It's just between you and me.

We can stop running and overcome our demons. The winding trail has sometimes been rough and sometimes gold, but I'd only follow it with your hand to hold.

We can meet where the water is sweet and there's no more suffering. I've had my share of sadness and pain, but when I'm with you there's only good days and no rain.

We can sit by the river, whispering all our secrets in the twilight. With you, my illicit thoughts are never forbidden or hidden.

We can be who we are for our mutual pleasure. For you alone, I'll be your willing whore and beg for more.

We can always find each other in time. Over mountains, through deserts, or across the sea, the journey will always lead to you and me.

We can laugh like we're up to no good. Night or day, it's with you I want to play.

We can walk barefoot through a secret garden, our own private Eden. Joyous and free, we'll sing songs only we can hear, whether far or near.

We can lie together and forget the world. Beneath a blood red moon, the earthly expression of our mystical bond can never arrive too soon.

We can get lost on blue highways, going wherever the summer wind takes us. With you accompanying me, the sun's always shining and I'm always smiling.

We can celebrate our passion, our bodies moving together in a timeless dance. Under a sea of stars, your tender touch will be the potion for my scars.

We can open our hearts. Though I've shed tears, I'd do it all again despite my fears.

We can be gloriously filthy while I savor being your dirty girl. Basking in the afterglow, I'll paint your come on my skin, relishing our rapturous sin.

We can find sweet salvation in each other. Even though I didn't hear your call, I chased down that spark and found my long-lost friend after all.

We can go back there without a wishing well. I'll be here waiting for you, always faithful and true.

We can come to a middle road. Maybe everything I want to know is in your eyes, but you need to promise me no more sad goodbyes.

We can enjoy the low road too. A million fireflies can't compare to my flame for you.

We can do it all if we just believe. I do…and so should you.
